Period
There were
two units of the Australian Air Force serving in combat roles in the Philippines.
The "Air Force
Construction Squadrons" (ACS), these were a vanguard unit, often landing
with assault
troops and then began to build airfields for further aerial operations.
The other unit was the "Australian Wireless Units", which were an integral
part of the Allied Signal Intelligence Gathering Organization.
AIR FORCE POST
OFFICE No. 254 was in use in the Philippines from March 13, 1945 to June
18, 1945 at San Jose, Mindoro. They had used a circular date stamp and
a rectangular registration hand stamp. |
